Hotel group completes Chester acquisition
The easyHotel chain has announced the purchase of a new site in Chester.
The developer and operator of the ‘super budget’ branded hotels, has also confimred the completion of the acquisition of another property, in Milton Keynes.
Earlier this year, on April 11, the group announced the acquisition of a 109-bed hotel in Chester.
It said the hotel is being delivered to easyHotel as a ‘turnkey’ development, and the acquisition of the site represents the first stage of the hotel development, which should open in 2019.
In January this year easyHotel also announced the acquisition of a 125-year leashehold site in Milton Keynes.
Planning permission for a 124-bedroom hotel has now been granted and the conversion works for the central site, which forms part of Norfolk House on Silbury Boulevard, has begun.
The hotel is also anticipated to open in 2019.
An easyHotel Maastricht opened at the beginning of July, taking the total number of hotels in the group to 28.
In November last year the chain also opened a 78-room site in Liverpool, on the city’s main Castle Street, at a total cost of £3m.
It provoked anger among some prospective guests who had booked for the original opening date of August 2017, who then had their bookings cancelled while work continued on the site.
The hotel chain, owned by easyJet founder Stelios Haji-Ioannou, also has hotels in Manchester, London, Glasgow and Birmingham.
