19 acre residential development site sold to Redrow Homes

Acting on behalf of private clients, Chester-based Legat Owen has completed the sale of a 19-acre residential development site at Penyffordd in Flintshire to Redrow Homes, for an undisclosed sum.

Legat Owen worked with the landowners to negotiate the sale with Redrow which was conditional upon the granting of a Reserved Matters Approval for 186 residential dwellings.

Redrow, based in Ewloe, near Chester, was initially refused planning permission but was subsequently successful on appeal and, following a referral to the Welsh Ministers, approval was granted in May.

Legat Owen advised on the negotiation of the promotion agreement and the subsequent sale to Redrow.

“The sale of this site to Redrow will ensure the delivery of a quality residential development in Penyffordd,” said Stephen Wade, director at Legat Owen.

“It is testimony to the quality of their original proposal that the application was granted on appeal by Welsh Ministers.

“We are pleased to have delivered an excellent result for the landowner,” he added.

Redrow has begun work on-site and will launch sales later this year with a view to having the first homes completed by May 2019.

Paul Moore, Redrow North West managing director, said: “We have a strong track record of providing quality new homes in the area and look forward to getting our latest development underway.”
