Preston-based specialist IT and Wi-Fi solutions firm, Infinium, has completed two acquisitions as part of ambitious expansion plans to become a national provider.

The £5m-turnover business has added Affinity Wi-Fi in Cambridgeshire and Qubix Technology in Bristol to the business which, it says, will provide a focus on local sales and service, but with a national footprint.

In another strategic move, Neil Stephenson, former chief executive of the IT company Onyx, will be joining the board as non-executive chairman to advise the directors on their future growth plans.

“It’s a great company to work with, there is massive potential to build on the success they’ve had to date, and I’m looking forward to help shape the strategy as they move on to the next phase,” he said.

Infinium, founded by the now group chief executive, Peter Miles, employs 53 people in four UK locations with plans to grow to a £10m company within the next three years, having already doubled their turnover within the last 18 months.

In recognition of the importance of growth through acquisitions, Ian Gaskell has taken on the role of group chief financial officer and will continue to work closely with Peter on a day-to-day basis, ensuring strategic goals are delivered.

Aside from acquisitions the business has also created two new regional director positions and nine new roles in operations, HR and marketing.

“We are growing at such a rate that it is important we nurture talent within specific roles. Having regional offices with centralised support ensures that we can operate successfully throughout the UK offering all our customers exceptional levels of service,” said Mr Miles.

Infinium works with more than 300 holiday Parks and provides services to top UK festivals, such as CarFest, Pub in the Park and The Handmade Fair.
