Planning approval for Garstang executive housing scheme

Planning permission has been granted for a luxury development of 44 executive homes in the historic market town of Garstang, near Preston.
House builder Duchy Homes has gained approval from the council for its proposal to build a sophisticated collection of 26 five-bedroom and four-bedroom detached homes, along with 18 high-quality two-bedroom affordable houses on the former agricultural pasture land at Calder House Lane, in the coveted Bowgreave area of Garstang.
The approved development, named Calder Park, will provide generous family homes with contemporary interiors in attractive brick designs with features including bay windows, open-plan kitchen and family living, bi-folding doors and luxury bedrooms with walk-in wardrobes.
The nine-acre site bounded by Little Calder River offers an idyllic location for a residential development with both an attractive rural location and close proximity to schools, services and leisure facilities, just one mile outside Garstang town centre.
Garstang has become known as the world’s first fair trade town and in 2008 was voted the best town in Europe, winning a gold award in the prestigious Entente Florale competition.
Set on the banks of the River Wyre with the Forest of Bowland Area of Natural Beauty on its doorstep, the town is steeped in history with beautiful architecture and a thriving community which offers an abundance of activities, local groups and clubs.
The developers say its excellent transport links with easy access to the M6 makes it the perfect hometown for those looking to commute to Lancaster, Preston or other surrounding towns in the North West.
Construction works are expected to start at Calder House Lane in February, with sales planned to open in late Spring 2019.
