More than 100 homes in pipeline for Cheshire town

A total of 136 new homes are due to be built in the North West town of Poynton later this year following the successful sale of 10.81 acres of greenfield land by Savills Manchester on behalf of land promoter Ainscough Strategic Land.

The site, which is situated close to Poynton town centre, six miles south of Stockport and 13.5 miles south of Manchester, sold for more than £16m to Bloor Homes.

It has been sold with outline planning consent, secured by promoter Ainscough Strategic Land.

Berit Rose, associate in the Manchester development team, said: “Ainscough Strategic Land has been superb in promoting the site through the Cheshire East Local Plan and has worked diligently to secure the release of the site from the Greenbelt.

“It was a very competitive marketing process which has culminated in a sale to Bloor Homes who, in line with their other developments, will no doubt build appealing, high quality new homes which are likely to attract professionals and young families working in Manchester as well as those already living in the town.”

Rachael Ainscough, of Ainscough Strategic Land, said: “Given the Green Belt status of the land, our team, which was led by our planning director John Brooks, did a fabulous job in working alongside Cheshire East Council to navigate this contentious site through planning, enabling much needed new family homes to be built in Poynton.

“We’re thrilled to have completed the onward sale and have no doubt that Bloor will go on to build out a fantastic development.”

Rhys Nicholson, regional managing director of Bloor Homes, added: “Bloor Homes is delighted to have completed on development land in Poynton, which is a fantastic addition to the company’s portfolio of sizeable sites in premium locations.

“Our reserved matters application has been submitted and we look forward to work on site commencing in Summer 2019.”

Savills’ latest forecasts indicate that house prices in the North West are predicted to outperform the rest of the UK over the next five years, with a projected increase of 21.6% compared with a UK average of 14.8% and 4.5% in London.
