Region’s leading businesswoman to speak at networking lunch

Rachel Clacher

One of the North West’s best-known businesswomen is speaking at a special BusinessDesk.com lunch next week.

Rachel Clacher set up Moneypenny with her brother Ed Reeves less than 20 years ago.

The siblings polled their convictions about customer service, passion for people and savings to set up a remote telephone answering business.

Today the firm is the world’s leading provider of telephone answering and outsourced switchboard services, with offices in the US as well as the UK.

The 700 staff annually handle in excess of 10 million calls on behalf of more than 10,000 companies.

The business is run out of an award-winning HQ – known as ‘the happiest office in the land’ – and the company is one of the Top Five ‘Best Companies to Work For in the UK’.

In 2014 Rachel brought Moneypenny’s unique approach to a charity called WeMindTheGap.

The aim of the charity is to give new opportunities in life and work to unemployed under-served young women through providing totally holistic paid traineeships.

The results have been outstanding by any measure – seven out of ten of our graduate trainees move into fulltime work or education.

Rachel’s efforts were recently recognised with a CBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list.

Rachel regularly speaks to national and international business audiences about her Moneypenny/WeMindTheGap journey.
