Planning approval safeguards Greater Manchester jobs

Manchester-based P4 Planning has secured full planning approval for specialist packaging company, Invopak, in a scheme that will secure the company’s long-term future in Hyde.

The plans will allow Invopak to build a storage warehouse at its Frederick House site, which was purchased earlier this year with the specific aim of keeping its business operation in Hyde.

The plans will ensure all existing employment is safeguarded, as well as potential new job opportunities created.

The 1,650 sq m pre-engineered modular warehouse will be accommodated on land to the rear of Frederick House, within an established industrial park location.

Together with the wider improvements to the site and building, it represents a £1.5m investment.

Charlotte Fowler, associate at P4 Planning, said: “This is a great result and a significant investment being made by Invopak, demonstrating their long-term commitment to the area, their workforce and ambitions for the future.”

Invopak has an 85-strong workforce operating out of four branches throughout the UK and headquartered in Hyde where it employs 35 staff.

With its existing head office located 100m from the application site at Hyde Point, the purchase of Frederick House is planned to enable the company to expand and stay within the area.

The additional storage space secured through the latest planning approval will ensure Invopak can meet its growing business requirements and continue with plans to bring the vacant Frederick House unit back into active use.
