First tower at X1 Manchester Waters development tops out

Topping out at X1 Manchester Waters

Property developer X1 is celebrating the topping out of the first tower at its iconic five tower X1 Manchester Waters development, part of the wider Peel L&P regeneration project.

The new tower will bring 75 exclusive apartments to Pomona Island in Manchester.

X1 Manchester Waters has proven incredibly popular with investors, with Towers A and B now fully sold out, with only limited availability remaining in Tower C.

On completion the development will consist of 742 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, in five distinctive apartment blocks.

Melissa Green, head of operations at X1, said: “We are delighted to be working with Peel L&P at the X1 Manchester Waters site and contributing towards the wider regeneration of Pomona Island.

“We are confident the apartments here will be immensely popular with residents thanks to the onsite amenities, waterfront views and its location adjacent to the Metrolink station.

“The topping out of X1 Manchester Waters Tower 1 is a key milestone in the build and we look forward to meeting the new residents very soon.” she added.

X1 Manchester Waters is an integral part of Peel L&P’s wider Strategic Waters initiative, aiming to regenerate and transform former industrial sites in unique waterfront locations throughout the UK to create stunning destinations where people can live, work, socialise and enjoy life.

James Whittaker, development director at Peel L&P, said: “It was a pleasure to attend the topping out event of the first X1 tower at Manchester Waters.

“This scheme is part of the Manchester Waters masterplan to develop a mixed-use sustainable community on a key strategic site between MediaCityUK and Manchester city centre. Our partnership with X1 continues to deliver quality homes on a number of our Strategic Waters sites.”

X1 Manchester Waters will be managed and let entirely by the X1 Lettings team.

Mark Connor, chief executive for Liverpool-based construction and property development firm Vermont, said: “The topping out of Block 1 is both a major milestone for X1 and Vermont, but also for the development of the wider regeneration of the Pomona Island site.

“The current scheme, we believe, will provide confidence and a catalyst for the further development of this substantial waterfront site.

“The apartment scheme will be complemented by fantastic public realm and amenity space, including a riverside walkway that will link all five blocks to Pomona Strand.

“Vermont are proud to have worked with X1 and Peel L&P in bringing the initial phase of the development to the market, and look forward to completing this prestigious development, which I’m sure will provide a new benchmark for residential accommodation in Trafford.”

Samantha Jones, head of marketing at Salford Quays-based property consultancy Knight Knox, added: “X1 Manchester Waters is one of the most popular developments we have launched in partnership with X1 and we are delighted that Tower A has topped out.

“The aesthetic of the build, not to mention its excellent waterfront location, meant that it was an immediate hit with buyers upon launch.

“The Salford Quays/Manchester waterfront is fast becoming the destination of choice for families, young professionals and students, and we are delighted and proud to be part of this wide-scale regeneration.”
