Software services company opens German office as part of automotive growth strategy

Mobica's Munich office

Global software services company, Mobica, has opened its first office in Germany, as it looks to strengthen its relationships with the country’s leading automotive OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) and suppliers.

The new Munich office will predominantly focus on its growing automotive customer base and complements the existing nearshore office portfolio across the UK, US and Poland.

This Munich office and the recruitment of an in-country senior team with extensive experience in the automotive sector gives Wilmslow-based Mobica a strong foothold in one of the world’s most innovative automotive markets.

The team, who will work with OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers across Mobica’s existing customer base and in onboarding new customers, includes chief operations officer Stefan Marxreiter, and Wolfram Ries, vice president of sales for automotive – both previously from Luxoft.

Several additional hires are due to be announced in the coming months.

Stefan Marxreiter said: “The automotive landscape is constantly evolving, particularly with the emergence of technologies such as IoT (internet of things), AI and 5G which are changing how businesses and consumers view their vehicles.

“It’s such an exciting time for the sector and it’s crucial that we’re positioned at the heart of Germany’s automotive industry.

“Having a permanent base in Munich will enable us to provide close support to our German customers, collaborate with other players in the sector and deliver more ground-breaking automotive technologies to enable the modern car.”

Simon Wilkinson, chief executive of Mobica, said: “Germany is globally-recognised for its automotive industry, and is where a significant amount of our growth strategy is focused.

“We have a number of partners and customers in the country already and we hope to announce more in the near future.

“With the opening of our Munich office and the recruitment of a local senior team to support these relationships, we are demonstrating our strong commitment and investment in the German market and automotive sector.”

The new office is located in the Agendis Business Center, in the Schwabing quarter of Munich.
