A Bolton-based coach building company has expanded with the acquisition of a specialist vehicle manufacturing firm in Bradford.

Woodall Nicholson Group has completed the takeover of VCS Ltd, for an undisclosed sum.

The Bolton business is one of the oldest established coachbuilding companies in the UK.

The acquisition further strengthens it’s leading specialist vehicle design and manufacturing capability in the transport sector.

Together with Woodall Nicholson’s existing business, Coleman Milne Specialist Vehicle business, this acquisition will offer customers a more complete offering within critical and complex sectors such as the Police Service, Fire Brigade and both private and NHS vehicle requirements.

Manchester-based law firm DWF advised Woodall Nicholson Group on the deal.

Partner Jonathan Robinson led on the transaction, alongside senior associate Katy Philips and associate Francesca Kinsella.

Frank Barrett, Woodall Nicholson Group chief executive, said: “The team led by Jonathan provided excellent support throughout this transaction.

“This is a fantastic addition to the Woodall Nicholson family and provides additional growth opportunity to the group and we’re delighted to add further expertise and resource to our existing skill set.”
