Solicitor breaks new ground with APIL accreditation

Simon Quinn, partner and head of military at Hilary Meredith Solicitors in Wilmslow, has become the first solicitor in the country to be appointed as an accredited military injury specialist by the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL).
The status of Accredited Military Injury Specialist is granted to a person who has not only achieved APIL senior litigator status, but who has also demonstrated an additional, and further expertise, in the specialist field of military claims.
It is a unique accreditation enabling a practitioner to manage and progress a military case so as to establish, assert and enforce, the rights of a client damaged or disadvantaged by a military incident.
As an accredited military injury specialist, Simon will now act as an assessor for other candidates coming through the assessment process. He has also been appointed as the new APIL Military Special Interest Group Coordinator.
Hilary Meredith, chair of Hilary Meredith Solicitors, said: “In his 10 years at the firm, Simon has established himself as one of the country’s leading military solicitors.
“APIL’s accreditation is further recognition of Simon’s tireless work on behalf of service personnel, veterans and their families. It is a well-deserved appointment and we are delighted for him.”
Simon Quinn said: “I am honoured to be appointed as APIL’s first accredited military injury specialist and look forward to working with military lawyers throughout the country to secure greater legal protection for our Armed Forces.”
Gordon Dalyell, APIL president, said: “Accreditation is a sign of real expertise.
“Simon has fulfilled extensive criteria and demonstrated a high level of knowledge and ability, which will serve the best interests of injured Armed Forces personnel and veterans.
“These cases are specialist by their nature and injured military personnel can be assured that Simon has the expert knowledge they need for their pursuit of justice.”
