Real estate advisor Savills, on behalf of a private vendor, has sold Galaxy 173, a warehouse and manufacturing facility in Chadderton, Oldham, to LWC Drinks for £8.5m.

The UK’s largest independent drinks wholesaler has purchased the 173,000 sq ft unit, which is located on a site of approximately 11.4 acres.

The premises comprise a modern detached, single-storey distribution facility with high quality offices and potential for future expansion.

Located in a prominent position, Galaxy 173 is situated just 1.5 miles from junctions 20 and 21 of the M60 motorway and only five miles north of Manchester city centre.

Nearby occupiers include Costco, Great Bear and the Vehicle and Mono Pumps

Jonathan Atherton, industrial director at Savills, said: “The disposal process confirms the latent demand for good quality units in the region on a freehold basis.

“We received interest from four parties in the unit and eventually ran to a best bids scenario. The freehold market for 100,000 sq ft plus is very much characterised by a lack of supply and significant demand.”

Robert Rae of Avison Young acted for Openshaw-based LWC Drinks.
