Unanimous approval for Handforth housing development

The Anwyl site

Anwyl Homes has confirmed planning consent has been granted for its proposed residential development in Handforth, Cheshire.

The planning application for 224 new homes on land located off Hampson Crescent was unanimously approved by Cheshire East Council at its planning committee on December 18.

The 20 acre site was purchased by Anwyl earlier in the year from land owner HIMOR Group, which benefited from outline planning permission for up to 250 homes.

The development, which will provide a range of one-, two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom new homes, 30% of which will be affordable homes, is the first in Handforth for the housebuilder.

Phil Dolan, managing director of Anwyl Homes Cheshire and North Wales, said: “We are delighted that planning consent has been granted and are thrilled that our proposed development was supported unanimously by Cheshire East Council.

“Having acquired the land earlier this year on an unconditional basis, in what must have been one of the quickest property deals in the North West in 2019, we have worked hard to create a scheme that offers kerb appeal combined with a superb range of homes surrounded by vast areas of open green spaces and retained and enhanced landscapes.

“We are proud of our award-winning product, with each home thoughtfully designed and featuring a superior specification. We are really excited to commence with our first foundations in January 2020, with the initial infrastructure works already under way.”

He added: “This will be a flagship development for the business, demonstrating our continued and sustained commitment to the North West, and particularly Cheshire property market.”

Established for 90 years, Anwyl Group has three divisions: Anwyl Homes, Anwyl Partnerships and Anwyl Land. The family-run business has offices in North Wales and Lancashire.
