Building contractor goes into administration with loss of 40 jobs

A building contractor in Cumbria has gone into administration with the loss of 40 jobs.
Mayson Bros, a civil engineer and building contractor based in Egremont, has been placed into administration.
The firm, which was set up by managing director Gary Mayson in 1982, employed up to 100 workers at one stage.
The firm had its head office in Egremont and operated from southern Scotland to the North West of England.
The firm had contracts with the Environment Agency, Cumbria County Council, Home Group and Copeland Borough Council.
It has worked on major schemes across Cumbria, including flood resilience schemes in Glenridding and the River Ehen and last year, it worked with MPS Housing (Northern) to re-roof 350 properties for social landlord Home Group.
Mayson also ran a civil engineering business, which worked on public highways and delivered civil works on coastal defences and in-river projects.
Daryl Warwick and Mike Kienlen, of Armstrong Watson, have been appointed as joint administrators of the company.
