Plans unveiled for 11 storey apartment building close to central Manchester

Bowler's Yard

A property firm has put together plans for an building in Manchester’s New Islington area.

Developer Scarborough International Properties Limited has set up a joint venture with Metro Holdings Limited of Singapore and Hualing Group of China to work on the project.

The Bowler’s Yard development will include 64, one and two-bedroom apartments in a 11 storey apartment block.

The building is designed by CJCT Architects, with the ground floor providing a double-height residents’ entrance hall, bicycle stores and undercroft electric car charging points.

The apartments will be light, airy, spacious and completed to a high specification with full-height glazing and balconies to every apartment.

There will also be a ‘pocket park’, communal gardens for residents.

The new building will be next to the New Islington Metrolink stop and within five minutes’ walk of Piccadilly railway station and the centre of Manchester.

Construction is expected to start later this year.

Bowler’s Yard represents the third phase of residential development by Scarborough, Metro and Hualing at New Islington, following Milliners Wharf, which completed in 2010, and the Hatbox, which completed in spring 2016 and sold out before the building completed.

Nicola Wallis, sales and marketing director at Scarborough, said: “Bowler’s Yard will be an exciting addition to the popular residential area of New Islington. Each of the apartments will have a high specification and have been designed to maximise the natural light and space.

“Scarborough has a strong commitment to Manchester and Bowler’s Yard is our fourth scheme in the city. Milliners Wharf and the Hatbox have been completed, and we are well underway with Middlewood Locks with the first phase completed and now home to more than 650 residents and the second phase under construction.

“To date, Scarborough has delivered more than 1000 new homes in Manchester and has a further 546 under construction.”
