Planning secured for 268 new homes North of Bury

On behalf of Barratt Homes, Avison Young’s planning team has secured planning approval for 268 new homes, which includes 33 affordable homes, in Bevis Green, to the North of Bury.

The plans include associated access for the homes, car parking, landscaping and open space.

The site is located 1.5km North of Bury town centre, between Walmersley Old Road and the M66 motorway.

It is currently occupied by Tetrosyl, the largest manufacturer of car care products in Europe and one of the largest employers in the borough, with more than 400 employees based in Bury.

The growth of the business has meant that it has found alternative premises to accommodate its main manufacturing and distribution elements.

Rhian Smith, at Avison Young, said: “We are very pleased to have secured planning approval for such a large number of new homes for the Bury area.

“This is fantastic news for the town, its residents and for the local council as it will contribute significantly to alleviate the current housing shortage.”

Last week Avison Young secured reserved matters planning approval on 195 new homes, 15% of which will be affordable, at the former Hartshead High School site in Ashton-Under-Lyne on behalf of Taylor Wimpey Manchester.

And on February 14, Avison Young’s planning team secured approval from Preston City Council for the redevelopment of land associated with Ingol Village Golf Course, Preston, on behalf of Bellway Homes (North West) to deliver 152 new homes.
