Construction equipment and software and services specialist Hilti has announced it is moving its GB head office to central Manchester.

Multinational company Hilti is moving to Manchester’s newest neighbourhood, Circle Square on Oxford Road.

Circle Square is a joint venture between Bruntwood SciTech and Vita Group, located at the heart of Manchester’s Innovation District and sitting on one of the best-connected public transport routes in the North of England.

The move was announced at Old Trafford to the 200 strong head office team currently located at Trafford Park.

Matias Järnefelt, managing director, Hilti Northern Europe and Great Britain, said: “After listening to feedback from our workforce we selected No.1 Circle Square as the new home for our GB head office.

“The move marks our commitment to Manchester with its international airport, reputation for innovation, thriving construction industry and great universities.

“As the hub for Northern Europe, a more modern head office will allow us to better position Hilti on the international jobs market and attract global talent to come and work with our world-class team.

“We considered many office locations, but none met our requirements better than No.1 Circle Square. Our new working environment will feature spacious open areas, encouraging communication and allowing for more flexible, collaborative and modern working.”

Matt Lee, head of commercial for Bruntwood SciTech-Manchester, said: “Circle Square is one of the most sought-after places in Manchester for office space owing to its location and access to the city’s finest talent.

“All of this makes for a connected community of innovative businesses working together to create a world-class digital and tech ecosystem that will lay the groundworks for tomorrow’s most exciting companies.

“Hilti choosing Circle Square for their new home after more than 30 years in Trafford is testament to the retail and amenities on offer there as well as Symphony Park, the first and largest new city park for generations.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming them to Circle Square later in the year.”

The anticipated move date is December 2020 and the business will occupy 42,000 sq ft on the second, third and fourth floors of No.1 Circle Square.

CBRE acted on behalf of Hilti and Knight Frank acted on behalf of Bruntwood SciTech.

Circle Square is located at the heart of Oxford Road Corridor, set to become one of Europe’s top five innovation districts by 2025.

When complete, Circle Square will include 1,700 homes, 1.2 million sq ft of workspace and in excess of 100,000 sq ft of retail and leisure set around a new city park.

No.1 Circle Square provides 11 floors of office space, a ground floor with open plan retail and community areas and a mezzanine of co-working, events facilities and shared spaces.

Hilti is a global supplier of construction industry lead products, software and services.
