£10m plans lodged For 78 new Bolton homes

Development proposals

Plans have been submitted for the development of 78 news homes at Horwich, Bolton.

Housebuilder Eccleston Homes has appointed the Manchester office of national planning and development consultancy Lichfields to secure permissions from Bolton Council.

The development is earmarked for a three-hectare site off Lever Park Avenue, close to the River Douglas, at Horwich.

The proposals comprise a mix of one-, two-, three- and four-bed properties.

These include a combination of detached, semi-detached, terraced housing and apartments.

The application proposes that 27 of the dwellings will be affordable housing, with 75% for social rent and 25% as shared ownership.

Lichfields say the £10m development will sustain 60 on-site construction jobs and support 90 off-site jobs in related industries over the four-year build period.

Bolton Council stands to benefit from £456,000 through the Government’s New Homes Bonus Scheme and additional annual council tax will be approximately £112,000 a year.

Lichfields’ senior planner, Rebecca Hilton, said: “These proposals would result in the provision of much-needed affordable homes, financial contributions towards local education facilities, and the development of public open-space creating an attractive environment for residents to enjoy.”

The proposals include a new junction, access road and footpaths from Lever Park Avenue.
