Plans drawn up for final part of Ancoats development

Plans have gone in for the final phase of Manchester’s Islington Wharf development.

Waterside Places – the strategic joint venture between Muse Developments and Canal & River Trust – has submitted detailed plans for the final phase of homes at the Ancoats development.

The scheme will include 106 one and two-bedroom apartments over two buildings at 11 and 16 storeys respectively, on the corner of Great Ancoats Street and Old Mill Street.

This final phase will also feature 1,750 sq ft of active ground-floor uses along with landscaping, 19 car parking spaces (including disabled) and 106 secure cycle spaces.

“The final phase of Islington Wharf represents the last part of Waterside Places’ ambitious masterplan that began in 2005 to create, and then add to the vibrant community by developing much-needed homes close to the city centre, as well as bringing forward public spaces along the banks of Ashton Canal for everyone to enjoy.”

To date, the wider Islington Wharf development has included 348 city centre homes on the banks of the Ashton Canal, ranging from one-bedroom apartments, to four-bedroom family townhouse homes that are innovatively and sympathetically designed to blend both the heritage of the area and its future; boasting high-quality features throughout.
