Planning application lodged for sweet factory
A planning application has gone in for a new sweet factory in Cheshire.
Tritax Symmetry, the development arm of Tritax Big Box REIT, working in a joint venture, has submitted a planning application for Swizzels Matlow.
The application is for a new 158,000 sq ft manufacturing facility for at MA6NITUDE in Middlewich, Cheshire.
The news comes shortly after the JV exchanged contracts with Swizzels which see the development of a new manufacturing base for the sweet maker.
The project team includes AEW Architects and Avison Young’s planning team.
David Nuttall, development director at Tritax Symmetry, said: “With the deal now signed, our focus is firmly set on delivering this new premium facility for Swizzels.
“Our plan is to start on site in the third quarter subject to a positive outcome of the planning process. This unit is the first phase of development for Swizzels and we have the ability to bring forward an additional 300,000 sq ft on this plot.”
The wider project team includes Avison Young (Planning), AEW (Architect) RPS (PM/QS), CMS (Legal), and Shepherd Gilmour (Engineers).
Legat Owen, Savills and B8 Real Estate are joint letting agents for the scheme.
Savills, Beaumont Lord and Land Law represented Swizzels Matlow Ltd.
Located just off Junction 18 of the M6, MA6NITUDE offers plots from three up to 53 acres and buildings can be delivered from 40,000 – 638,000 sq ft.
Tritax Symmetry is Tritax Big Box REIT plc’s (TBBR) dedicated logistics developer.
In February 2019, TBBR, the UK’s leading Investment Company focused on Big Box logistics real estate, acquired an 87% stake in db symmetry.
The purchase price of £370m is part funded by a £250m placement of new shares.
The senior management of db symmetry will retain a 13% stake in the new business.
