House builder lodges application for 227 new homes

Prescot scheme

House builder Taylor Wimpey has submitted a planning application for a new residential development in Prescot.

Following consultation with residents, community groups and other stakeholders that attended a public consultation at Whitakers Garden Centre, the application for the construction of 227 new homes at the site on Liverpool Road, Prescot, has now been submitted to Knowsley Council.

The site is one of the nine Sustainable Urban Extension sites released from the Green Belt in the Knowsley Local Plan Core Strategy and will assist Knowsley Council in meeting its identified housing need of 8,100 new homes by 2028.

Whitakers Garden Centre will initially remain on the site before relocating to new premises in Prescot. Work is anticipated to commence following planning permission being granted.

Ian Harrison, land and planning director at Taylor Wimpey North West, said: “We are delighted to have submitted our planning application for a new development in Prescot to provide much-needed new homes, investment and economic benefit for the local area.

“We have worked hard to ensure that our proposal reflects the needs of the local community and will contribute to the continued investment within Prescot.”
