First residents move into £13m former cotton mill conversion
The first residents of the new Loom Wharf development in Leigh have moved into their new homes following a £13m regeneration project to turn the former cotton mill on Mather Lane into 99 luxury, loft-style apartments.
JP McGuire Developments began the transformation of the Grade II-listed building two years ago.
The large mill, which sits on the bank of the Bridgewater Canal and was first built in 1882, had stood empty for 20 years before the property developer took it over.
With high ceilings and large floorplans, the one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments in the development are spacious, with the largest apartment covering 165 sq m.
There are eight penthouse apartments, which each contain their own outside space with far-reaching views across Manchester, the Peak District, and beyond.
As well as containing original features such as large windows and brick walls, JP McGuire Developments has fitted-out each home with high specification kitchens, flooring, heating, ventilation, and security systems.
To date, 82 of the 99 apartments have sold. Now, the property developer has started to move in the new residents in stages to ensure that people can adhere to social distancing guidelines.
The final stage of the development will see JP McGuire Developments put the finishing touches to the communal areas, which include an on-site gym, private cinema and large dining room.
