Wellbeing provider hero joins Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre initiative

Manchester-based health tech company hero, which supports preventative health initiatives with its award winning Navigator technology, has been welcomed onto the Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre’s (AWRC) accelerator programme, at Sheffield Hallam University.

It was accepted onto the accelerator as a result of its innovative product, Navigator, as well as a successful proof of concept that was delivered within elite sport, corporate and real estate markets.

The AWRC is dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of the population through innovations that help people move.

It provides business, industry and the public sector with world-class research and design capability through state-of the-art, fully instrumented indoor and outdoor laboratories and access to a wide range of academic expertise including health, engineering, sport science, robotics, applied computing, psychology, design, and the arts.

The partnership between the two organisations will enable hero to work with the AWRC’s academic teams to add clinical validation to preventative health and lifestyle habits as key interventions for mental, physical and social health.

Joe Gaunt, hero chief executive, said: “To be accepted onto the AWRC’s incubator programme is fantastic and testament to the programmes we can deliver and the results that can be seen and felt by our clients and their stakeholders.

“We are looking forward to working with the AWRC and its team as well as future collaborations with the other successful participants on the programme.”

The Navigator platform is a unique lifestyle support tool for preventative health.

Combining habits and education, tracking and tools, personal goal setting and the ability to speak to experts to support mental and physical health as well as nutrition advice on demand, hero’s Navigator platform provides an innovative and unique toolkit designed to support people and their journey to a healthier lifestyle.

Joe added: “Despite all that’s happened in 2020 so far, we’re having a great year.

“We’ve won awards for our technology and programmes, we’ve added global clients to our roster, which now sits at well over 150, and to be working with such a well-known and respected organisation such as the AWRC is just fantastic.

“However, there’s more to come … we have more projects, programmes and enhancements to make to our technology and services.”
