Planning submitted for 40 acre logistics and industrial hub

Plans have been submitted by Caddick Developments to deliver a new logistics and industrial hub in Farington, Lancashire.

The proposed scheme which would include 612,500sq ft of commercial space is expected to bring a significant economic boost to the region, through the creation of 830 full-time equivalent jobs when complete and a further 420 full time equivalent jobs during construction.

The proposed development would offer a mix of industrial and logistics space with ancillary offices of a range, of sizes including big-box distribution units, mid-box production and warehousing as well as smaller units, providing the flexibility to accommodate businesses of all types and sizes.

The 40-acre site located adjacent to Lancashire Business Park is allocated for development in the South Ribble Local Plan, marking it as the largest employment allocation within the Borough. An outline planning application for industrial space has already been granted in 2017.

Caddick’s proposals also incorporate a significant area of open space for community use, as well as upgrades to surrounding pedestrian and cycle routes.
