Pubs group buys 88-room promenade hotel to extend portfolio

The Lindum Hotel

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, has completed on the sale of The Lindum Hotel St Anne’s to pub company, The Inn Collection Group, for an undisclosed sum.

Operating as a family-run hotel since the 1920s, The Lindum is situated on the seafront promenade of Lytham St Anne’s, a traditional seaside resort nestled along a picturesque stretch of the Fylde peninsula, directly South of Blackpool.

The recently refurbished hotel comprises 88 recently en-suite bedrooms, many of which boast unspoilt views of the St Anne’s Pier and coastline, and the Ribble Estuary beyond, arguably, some of the best sea views on the Fylde coast.

The hotel’s beautiful seaside location makes it a popular choice for weddings and events, with a variety of conference and events spaces on offer.

The previous owner, Dan Yates, said: “We have been very lucky to have worked in such a stunning seaside location and have thoroughly enjoyed operating the hotel and watching it grow over the years.

“Special thanks to Tom O’Malley at Christie & Co who was highly professional and has managed to achieve a swift and confidential sale for us during such an uncertain time.

“We are very pleased to be passing the business over to such an experienced operator who can take the hotel to the next level and benefit tourism within the local area.”

The Inn Collection Group operates venues across the North of England and the purchase takes the group’s portfolio to a total of 16, as the operator continues to roll out its ‘buy and build’ strategic growth plans of high-quality pubs with rooms.

Elsewhere, the group’s trading portfolio includes sites in Northumberland, County Durham, Cumbria and Yorkshire.

Managing director, Sean Donkin, said: “The Lindum Hotel has, in buckets and spades, everything we look for in an Inn Collection Group venue.
“Vibrant, multifaceted destinations, a wow factor element and somewhere we would like to eat, drink, sleep and explore from with our own families and friends.”

He added: “Despite the challenges COVID-19 continues to throw at the sector, 2020 continues to be a year of growth for our group.

“As well as mounting up our operations in the Lake District and Yorkshire, the purchase of The Lindum Hotel will see us expand our offering across the border into Lancashire.”

Tom O’Malley, senior business agent in Christie & Co’s hospitality team, brokered the sale and said: “I’m delighted to complete on another deal with The Inn Collection Group and strengthen Christie & Co’s great partnership with the group.

“This is my second deal personally this year, as they purchased The Churchill Inn in Ambleside through me in August, and they also bought The Black Swan through Christie & Co earlier in the year.

“The main appeal in this site was the prominent seafront location on the promenade in Lytham. I look forward to seeing the group’s plans come to life over the coming months.”
