Two of Manchester’s most experienced property professionals, known for playing key roles in landmark schemes across the UK, have launched a new project management, cost consultancy, property and construction advisory firm.

Russell Bolton Consulting has been founded by Russell Bolton and David Litherland to provide cost consultancy, quantity surveying, project management and advisory services to clients across multiple sectors.

Russell and David have set up the firm, based on King Street in Manchester, having left senior roles at Rider Levett Bucknall (RLB).

Russell, a chartered surveyor, was an equity partner at RLB for five years and managing partner for the firm’s Manchester and Liverpool offices, while chartered quantity surveyor David was an equity partner at RLB and headed up the cost consultancy team at the Manchester office.

Both professionals have more than 35 years’ experience in illustrious real estate careers.

Prior to joining RLB in 2015, Russell was partner and head of client service at EC Harris.

He has also played senior roles at ARCADIS UK, GVA Grimley and Gleeds. He has advised a range of blue chip clients including ITV, Allied London, Peel, Barclays Bank and Verdion.

David was previously a director within Deloitte UK’s real estate team, a director at Hargreaves Jones, and regional director at EC Harris and ARCADIS UK, respectively. David’s recent client track record includes Morrisons, Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, Chester Zoo, Durham County Council and Unilever.

Russell said: “While we are at the Autumn of our careers, we still have so much passion for the construction sector and working with people in it to make great things happen.

“David and I wanted to start a new chapter and are relishing the challenge of creating an independent firm that is shaped by our core beliefs of providing unrivalled levels of service and working in partnership with clients to achieve their goals.”

David said: “Our aspiration is to grow the firm and build on the strong and personal relationships we have established over several decades. The firm will have a cooperative, team and partnership culture at its heart, thriving on strong people relationships and great service delivery to help our clients solve complex problems and meet their needs. Russell and I are hugely excited by the challenge.”

Russell has played a key role on many landmark real estate schemes.

He led the project and cost management team that advised ITV on its £55m new regional headquarters and production facilities at MediaCityUK in Manchester, while providing project management, employer’s agent and contract administration services to Allied London in relation to the £125m construction of the iconic Civil Justice Centre in Spinningfields, Manchester.

David’s notable projects includes leading the cost management and procurement delivery team that advised Aviva Investors on the £25m redevelopment of the Grade II-listed Corn Exchange building in Manchester. He also led the cost management team that advised Chethams School of Music on its £35m major expansion and creation of a new concert hall.
