Expansion planned at furniture installation specialist following new investment

Tom Ellis and Guy Newton (Butler & Green) left, with Richard and Malcolm Hague

An Irlam-based furniture installation company has completed a deal to enable new investment and growth to build on its current services.

Founders and directors, Malcolm and Anne Hague, have sold their 75% share in First Install to Leyland-based Butler & Green, for an undisclosed sum.

Their son, Richard Hague, retains a 25% shareholding and the position of sales director on the board.

Malcolm Hague will become the company chairman, overseeing the strong client list and service delivery from its headquarters in Irlam.

Butler & Green chief executive, Guy Newton, has been appointed managing director and will be responsible for driving the growth and investment.

Guy has more than 20 years’ experience in the furniture sector, bringing knowledge, experience and focus to drive the improvements and growth.

He said: “First Install is a first class company operating installation and warehousing services in the furniture industry.

“There is excellent scope for growth and the company has earned the investment being brought in to improve the scope and scale of the services its established and experienced team can deliver.

“We will be seeking to improve many aspects of the company, including additional facilities and teams across the UK and creating jobs within the industry.”

He added: “Projects across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Caribbean have also been successfully completed for clients and I very much look forward to working with Malcolm, Anne and Richard as we move the business expansion forward together.”

Malcolm Hague said: “We are delighted to have secured the future of First Install Ltd. Having started the business from scratch we are looking forward to seeing it delivering improved services to our clients.

“I would like to thank those clients who have become friends over the years and assure them of our continued attention during this exciting phase for the company.”

Rick Hague said: “I am extremely proud of my parents for building First Install Ltd. The continued growth and reputation has enabled Butler & Green plc, especially Guy Newton, to see the potential, securing valued investment for the future of the business.

“I am excited about the next phase of First Install, the working relationship with Guy and seeing the company reach new levels of service and delivery.”

First Install is based at the Fairhills Industrial Estate in Irlam and has warehousing facilities in London, Glasgow and Bristol.
