Genedrive and Yourgene win National Framework contract award

Two Manchester companies have secured agreements with Public Health England National Framework.

Both Genedrive, the molecular testing business , and Yourgene, the biotech company, have been successful in their tender to provide their services to the National Microbiology Framework.

The PHE tender was opened in November 2020 and sought to appoint suppliers to a multi-lot national microbiology framework agreement relating to the supply of diagnostics goods and services and covering clinical laboratory diagnostic testing services.

The award of a framework contract is not exclusive to the company, nor a guarantee of orders, however it does allow participating authorities to issue call-off orders for products in the future.

David Budd, genedrive chief executive. Genedrive was one of Seneca’s successful investments in 2020

David Budd, CEO of Genedrive, said: “We are very pleased to have received notice of this contract award decision and look forward to the opportunity to engage with PHE and relevant authorities on future potential contracts.

“This is an early notification of the decision and we will update shareholders when we have more information on what this contract may mean for orders and revenues”.

Lyn Rees, CEO of Yourgene, said: “Yourgene considers that the successful framework award, for which there was a competitive tender process, lends significant credibility to the Clarigene product and to the Company’s COVID testing services.

“More broadly, we expect the award to support business development outside the scope of this agreement with a growing network of commercial partners, addressing privately funded testing in healthcare and workplace settings.”
