CBD business founded by former My Protein boss targets international expansion

Naturecan, the CBD brand based out of Stockport, is targeting further overseas expansion following a massive jump in growth over the past 12 months.

The business was founded just over two years ago by Andy Duckworth, the former CEO & board director of My Protein and entrepreneur Paul Finnegan.

In the last year turnover has grown 300% and its products are now sold in more than 28 counties worldwide including the Far East, America, and across Europe with plans to grow that number to 40 countries by the end of 2021.

The brand has also attracted some high-profile investors with ex-cricketer and TV personality Freddie Flintoff backing the brand to aid expansion worldwide, plus the business has recently secured an additional seven-figure investment from the Far East.

Andy Duckworth said: “When I left My Protein six years ago, I saw the opportunity in the CBD market and the last couple of years has seen us grow at breakneck speed.

“Customers have really switched on to the benefits of CBD, whether that is through taking oils, protein supplements, snacks or in their beauty regime to support their physical and emotional wellbeing.

“As we enter new markets and year three of business, we excited to see where we can take the brand.”

Paul added: “Throughout the past year we have been lucky enough not to have furloughed anyone, in fact we have taken on another 35 staff and plan to take on more as we head into the second half of

Naturecan’s range includes oils, snacks, protein, supplements, and balms all of which are created using natural hemp plants.

In keeping with the firm’s ethos, all products are sourced from as environmentally friendly means as possible with the company saying it tracks all its products from plantation to delivery to ensure that its carbon footprint is kept as small as possible.
