£4m loan to ‘fight for injured bikers’

A LAW firm which specialises in personal injury claims made by motorcyclists has taken out a £4m loan to increase its caseload in 2010.

Southport-based Fletchers Solicitors, which has secured the money from The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), represents bikers involved in everything from minor accidents to catastrophic injury cases.

Like most personal injury law firms, Fletchers obtain a proportion of their cases through accident intermediaries and plans to use the RBS funding to grow the volume of cases from these sources.

Fletchers’ personal injury team also represent individuals who have suffered a spinal or serious injury as well as dealing with less complex cases such as slips and trips.

The firm was founded in 1987 and now employs 60 staff from its offices in Lord Street.

Robert Fletcher, managing director of Fletchers Solicitors, said: “When we launched the firm over 20 years ago one of our main goals was to fight for the legal rights of injured motorcyclists, many of whom had sustained life changing injuries.

“This continues to be a key priority for the firm and is an area that we will look to grow during the forthcoming year.”

Sara Hutton, senior relationship manager at RBS, said: “Fletchers has an excellent reputation in a niche sector of the personal injury market thanks to the quality of its work.

“We have worked closely with the management team to structure a funding package which consolidates their existing facilities and provides an increase in the bank’s level of support.”
