Energy-saving company to launch ‘game changing’ product and recruitment drive

A Cheshire energy-saving business is set to launch ‘game changing’ technology which it claims can heat rooms almost 20% faster and cut energy bills by eight per cent. It is also expanding its workforce to offer training and installation.
Altrincham-based Thermocill is about to go into full manufacturing production of its device which is placed discretely under a window board or sill and directs the warm air from a room’s radiator up and against the window panes creating a warm curtain of air in front of the glazing, as well as improving the thermal comfort in the room.
The company says it gives the effect of triple glazing at a much reduced cost.
It enables the room to heat up faster – by up to 19% – and saves up to eight percent on energy bills. Its green credentials are also maximised by the fact it is made 100% from recycled nylon and considerably reduces a building’s carbon footprint – on average 150kg per year.
In addition, Thermocill significantly reduces the moisture and condensation around windows, representing the only passive device to achieve this, said the firm.
The product has been designed, optimised and tested by scientists and its results are all verified by the Energy Saving Trust.
A recently launched Thermocill app enables customers and surveyors to calculate the number of units required and the CO2 emissions saved by installing the product.
Its award-winning inventor and entrepreneur, Keith Rimmer, said: “At Thermocill, we’re incredibly proud to have created a new, revolutionary product that will become a staple in every home in the UK and beyond.”
He added: “Our product is designed to reduce the level of cold air entering the house and minimises the level of warm air being lost through the window. This allows a home to remain at the desired temperature for your body to feel satisfied with the thermal environment, providing the desired level of thermal comfort continuously.
“It also reduces condensation and moisture on windows which, in turn, reduces potential damp in a building, thus improving the quality of air you breathe every day.”
In 2010 Keith’s EcoPod eco-friendly heating system used in tall buildings received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneurial Award for Cleantech and Energy and ‘Innovator award’ at the North West Business Masters Awards. EcoPod also achieved H&V Project of the Year and H&V Environmental Initiative of the Year in 2011.
Thermocill has appointed two senior directors before the launch of its ancillary heating product, recruiting Chris Sweeney as sales director and Paul Heron as installations director.
Chris Sweeney
Chris, 47, an expert energy broker, said: “It’s a fantastic opportunity to be joining a business that is truly devoted to making people’s lives better both from an eco-sustainability point of view and also from a cost-saving aspect. When I first spoke to Thermocill’s inventor and managing director, Keith Rimmer, I honestly thought the product was too good to be true. But it is true, Thermocill is a real game changer.”
Chris, who will be using his extensive network of connections in the energy sector plus a nationwide team of sales advisors to promote Thermocill, said the scope for where the product could be used effectively was endless: “I will initially be approaching local authorities, education establishments, the care home industry and charities where energy and cost saving are paramount. But we will also be targeting Thermocill at housing developers, down to the individual home owner.”
Paul Heron
Paul, 37, who has worked in the construction industry, has, in recent years, developed an initiative called Society Card, whose members get access to discounts and savings from local and national businesses. In recent years he has also concentrated his efforts on raising money for charities.
He said: “Raising money and helping others has been something we have grown up with as a family. I am passionate about helping people and their lifestyles and now representing Thermocill is a perfect extension to that. Thermocill is a win-win product for everyone by saving both energy and cash and I knew straight away when I spoke to Keith that the product and the Thermocill Trust which is about to be created, will help people generally in society, which resonates with me so much.”
Paul’s role as installations director will be to work with installers, councils, businesses and colleges throughout the country creating partnerships to train installers to a high level of competency.
He said: “Hopefully, we can give training to young people who are looking for new opportunities or for people who may have been made redundant because of COVID-19. I will be working alongside the sales team, the distribution centre, and the installers we set up around the country. Once we are up and running we will have field inspectors who will visit sites to make sure that Thermocill has been fitted to the highest of standards.”
