Tulway, the Knowsley-based national fabrication and engineering group, has acquired a prominent fabrication workshop in Middlesbrough, in a multimillion-pound deal.

The workshop will continue to support all existing clients, providing a seamless transition as well as offering a full range of fabrication and extended project services to businesses across the UK.

The deal sees Tulway take ownership of one of the largest fabrication units in Teesside, with 30,000 sq ft of workshop space and 20 tonne overhead lifting capacity, as well as securing long term supply agreements.

It secures the future of the existing 23 jobs at the Middlesbrough site. Tulway operates across three business units – Tulway Engineering, Tulway Energy and Tulway Fabrications.

Tulway, which boasts blue chip clients such as National Grid and car manufacturer Stellantis, said it recognises this acquisition as confirmation of its position as leaders in its field.

This acquisition, alongside the opportunities presented by Brexit and the sustainability agenda, will see the company embark on a substantial period of growth over the next five years.

Tulway has been supporting companies with fabrication, mechanical installation, and site maintenance services for almost 25 years.

Managing director, Kevin Tully, said: “Tulway is now entering an exciting chapter in the future of our business, and I am incredibly proud of our team who have worked diligently in securing this acquisition and long term supply agreements with the previous owners.

“It will allow Tulway to extend the portfolio of services offered to our customers, providing them with the highest quality fabrication and mechanical installation solutions.”

He added: “This acquisition will see the Tulway group embark on an ambitious period of growth which will include investment at both our sites, creating the opportunity to grow our presence in the North East and expand our fabrication services across the UK.

“It will also secure our status as a significant mechanical engineering services provider in the UK.”
