UK flooring specialist taps into Greater Manchester with Tameside store
Tapi, the fast-growing UK carpet and flooring retailer, has opened a new store today (September 3) in Ashton-under-Lyne.
It is the group’s first presence in Greater Manchester and the opening is the first of 15 planned openings over the next 12 months.
Located at Snipe Retail Park, the store is five miles east of Manchester city centre.
Store manager, Jon Yeomans, has worked in the flooring industry for more than 20 years and has managed competitor stores for more than a decade. Along with all the sales, warehouse and mobile fitting teams, Jon has been hired locally and said he is excited for his new role: “There’s a massive appetite for Tapi’s products and unique service in the Greater Manchester area.
“The store’s looking great and it’s situated in an ideal position – we’ve been super busy since we threw open our doors with lots of people booking a home visit via our mobile showroom.”
The store has created eight jobs, with plans to recruit more in the future.
The retailer, based in Orpington, Kent, has managed to maintain the strong ecommerce growth rates it generated during lockdown, which has prompted new store openings to meet demand.
Tapi chief executive, James Sturrock, said the business has ambitious growth plans for the next 12 months: “We do things differently at Tapi, offering inspiration and expertise at every step and our customers love it.
“We believe flooring is an exciting, inspirational product so we’re determined to bring our fresh, expert approach to as many people as possible.
“Our new store in Ashton-under-Lyne is the first of our new store openings and we aim to launch over 15 new stores in the next 12 months.”
He added: “It’s no surprise that the pandemic has had a huge impact on the way we are using our homes. We’ve completely reassessed what we want from our four walls and now people are seeing the floor as a way of transforming their home.
“Our new store in Ashton-under-Lyne will allow people in the area to be guided by our flooring experts in-store, as well as through our popular home visit service.”
