Salford Van Hire invests £16m in new vehicles, with promise of more to come

Salford Van Hire has expanded with a £16m investment in more than 200 new DAF commercial vehicles across its spot hire and contract hire fleets.

The new vehicles will all be in service by the end of 2021 and, says SVH’s owner Raffaello Bacci, “demonstrate our commitment to our customers and to the future.”

He added: “The spending is far from over and we will be making more announcements on further spending before the end of the year.”

The new DAF’s comprise both rigid vehicles and tractor units.

The rigids are a mix of 7.5 tonne, 12 tonne and 18 tonne boxes and curtain-siders with either tuck-away tail lifts, all bodied by Paccar Bodies at Leyland in Lancashire, the only commercial bodybuilder with online bodybuild capability available on the production line.

Tractor units are the DAF FTGF Space and Super Space tractors, built at Leyland where the manufacturer builds the LF, CF, and XF right-hand drive vehicles for the UK market.

Mr Bacci said: “Despite the trials and tribulations of the pandemic and the uncertainties of a post-Brexit Britain, we have seen continued demand for our spot rental and contract hire services, with particular demand from the third-party logistics sector which recognises our ability to respond quickly and efficiently for the need to supply vehicles across the product spectrum to meet their changing needs.”

He added: “We identified the need for 12 tonne rigid vehicles for the growing same/next day delivery sector early on and acted quickly to bring them on-stream. Being an independent company makes it considerably easier for us to make purchasing decisions and work with customers to ensure they get the vehicles they want as quickly as possible.”
