North West law firm Napthens has extended its footprint in Liverpool following a spate of new senior appointments, client wins and a new office.

Moving to the sixth floor in The Plaza, Old Hall Street, Napthens has completed a significant upgrade to its previous lease with a fourfold increase in floor space, new meeting room facilities and accommodation for up to 30 staff.

To coincide with its move, the firm has made several new appointments, including two additions to its employment team.

Specialising in education law, including safeguarding and exclusions, Suzanne Mainwaring has been appointed as a senior associate following more than 11 years with Hill Dickinson locally.

Chris Hayes also joins as a senior associate from MSB Solicitors where he headed the employment team. An active member of the Liverpool Law Society’s employment law sub-committee, he acts for a broad range of organisations, from small owner-managed businesses through to well established SMEs, on the full spectrum of employment law and HR related issues.

Led by Gareth McIntegart, the new hires increase Napthens’ Liverpool presence to a team of 12 who, with the support of colleagues from the firm’s other North West offices, including Southport, are fully focused on further developing the firm’s practice and profile in the local market.

Chris and Suzanne follow senior associate Shahida Jogi, who joined as part of the firm’s wills & estate planning practice earlier in the year from Weightmans, and senior associate James Stephenson from Brabners who is tasked with driving forward the firm’s litigation practice in the city.

Since opening its doors in the city in 2018, the firm has quickly developed its regional client base, and now works with the likes of Abbey Logistics Group, Joloda Hydraroll, Applied Nutrition, Heritage Great Britain, Elitetele.com, National Museums Liverpool, and Ludlow Wealth Management amongst others.

Gareth McIntegart said: “Liverpool City Region remains a key part of Napthens’ future growth plans and we’re excited to be making this further commitment to that plan.

“Since launching the office, we’ve worked hard to further strengthen relationships and embed ourselves into the local community and, with a growing client portfolio, we are capitalising on almost 100 years of collective experience amassed by the team working in the city.

“The new space is fantastic and we’re encouraged by the feedback that we’ve had so far. I’m sure Chris and Suzanne will feel right at home and we look forward to seeing what they can achieve.”

Chris Boyle, head of employment at Napthens, said: “Suzanne and Chris are two fine additions to our employment team in Liverpool and bring our headcount at this office up to six. Actively involved in the Liverpool market, they join us as senior associates to help us to deliver great service that is founded on excellent lawyers, fixed fee pricing and technology-enabled solutions.”

Suzanne Mainwaring said: “Napthens is a really ambitious firm that has been making waves in Liverpool over the past three years. It has built a highly specialised team and this new office is the firm’s latest statement of intent.”
