Celebs check up on dental centre’s new £1m facilities

Portman Dental Care has invested £1m in relocating its City Centre Dental & Implant Clinic to bigger premises in Manchester city centre.

Strictly Come Dancing winner and soap star Kelvin Fletcher was joined by TV and radio presenter Sarah-Jane Crawford to check up on the new facilities as special guests.

The 2019 dancing sensation and DJ were given a tour of the state-of-the-art centre in Booth Street, before formally opening the new location of the 54-year old practice.

Kelvin said: “I thoroughly enjoyed the evening, and it was a pleasure to help open Portman Dental Care’s practice in its new home.

“The dental chairs and environment were so comfortable, and the patient lounge was so calming. it didn’t feel like a dental practice at all.”

Sarah-Jane said: “Taking care of your teeth is so important and it’s great to see Manchester and the North West have this amazing practice right in the heart of the city.”

The £1m investment from Portman Dental Care, which was founded by Sam Waley-Cohen in 2008, has completely refurbished two floors of the new building location and turned them into the state-of-the-art dental practice.

It has enabled the clinic to relocate to the bigger and more sophisticated premises on Booth Street, offering more comprehensive treatment options.

The practice has treated thousands of patients since first opening in 1967 and moved to the new site having outgrown the old building on St Anne’s Square.

Consisting of 12 surgeries the practice has 15 clinicians, 11 dental nurses and four support colleagues.

John Hewitt, one of the lead clinicians at the practice, said: “It was fantastic to welcome Kelvin and Sarah-Jane to help open our new facilities, marking the start of a new journey for City Centre Dental & Implant Clinic.

“The opening of our new building will help increase the tailored solutions we provide to an increasing number of people.”

He added: “Among the facilities is a new and completely different patient lounge, to ensure patients are greeted in a relaxing and modern environment ahead of any treatment.

“No phones ringing or appointments being booked at reception, as this is now done in a separate area to make our waiting patients feel completely at ease.

“More and more people are taking greater care of their teeth and our practice has been designed to support everyone have teeth they are proud of.”
