Divorce and family law firm, Maguire Family Law, is set to relocate its head office from long-time home Black Box, Wilmslow, to a new property in the heart of Altrincham as part of a £780,000 investment.

The new office is situated on Stamford New Road – a building that has a long history in the market town, having been originally built around the turn of the century.

James Maguire, founder and director of Maguire Family Law, said: “We’ve wanted to invest in a property for a long time, having rented office space for the past 12 years, and 58 Stamford New Road was a clear standout.

“Altrincham is such a vibrant town and an area we are well acquainted with. Therefore, we felt it would be a great base for our business headquarters, particularly as we look to continue to grow our team and expand our client base in the area.”

An eight-strong team will be working from the new head office, while the remainder of the firm’s workforce will work out of its Wilmslow and Knutsford premises.

The Stamford New Road site was acquired for £505,000, measuring 2,689 sq ft over four floors.

However, the property was in a terrible state of disrepair and required extensive reparative work before Maguire Family Law could move in – the firm has invested approximately £275,000 to renovate the building to its former glory.

Chris Rodgers, director at architect firm Guy Taylor Associates, said: “The redevelopment brings new life to a very attractive and important building for Stamford New Road.

“Unfortunately, the building had suffered from disrepair and no longer had a use for the upper floors so lay empty. Thus, the conversion to a high quality office is the perfect fit.

“The original building, particularly the front elevation, has wonderful original details which were preserved and enhance as part of these works.

“The ground floor shopfront, which was not original and out of character, was replaced as part of the works with a traditional decorative timber shopfront.

“Original windows were restored and inside the building original features were celebrated, such as exposing the attic truss with a vaulted ceiling. The wider interior design includes a mix of features sympathetic to the original building, including the tiled entrance, and more modern finishes with an industrial feel to create a contemporary and appealing working environment.”

James Maguire added: “This investment and expansion reinforces our intention to be one of the leading family law firms in the region.

“Plus, with a wealth of experience and expertise, our committed and compassionate team are here to help our clients on their journey to day one of their new life.”
