Sports retail brand commits to four-fold upsizing at city shopping centre

The new Tessuti site

Grosvenor Britain & Ireland, the owner of the Liverpool One retail centre, has announced that curated designer retailer, Tessuti, is to upsize its unit at the site.

The brand’s commitment to relocate to Paradise Street in a new global flagship is a significant vote of confidence in Liverpool One, it said.

Tessuti, part of JD Sports Group, has operated a 5,300 sq ft store on Liverpool One’s Peter’s Lane since 2013.

The new Tessuti Liverpool One flagship, which is almost four times as large as the original store, is set to open next spring opposite JD Sports’ store on Paradise Street.

The store will showcase curated ranges from established premium and luxury fashion brands and up-and-coming designers.

Alison Clegg, managing director, asset management, Grosvenor Britain & Ireland, said: “The creation of an upsized flagship for Tessuti has been a shared objective for some time, given the brand’s consistently strong performance at Liverpool One.

“Their growth is an excellent endorsement for the destination and signifies the ongoing demand for physical retail, as well as the growth of our premium and luxury-focused offering.”

Other recent additions to Liverpool One include a new 20,000 sq ft flagship for New Look and the North West debut of competitive leisure concept, Escape Live, featuring Peaky Blinders and Horrible Histories-themed escape rooms.

Liverpool One has also continued to experience strong trading performance since retail re-opened on April 12.

Retail sales were up 14.4% in the third quarter, compared with the same period in 2019, significantly ahead of the UK average of 6.7%.

Metis and CBRE acted for Liverpool One, while Tessuti dealt directly.
