Weaver Vale Housing Trust (WVHT) has acquired 55 homes in Cheshire East and Cheshire West from Merseyside based Livv Housing Group.

The homes are situated in the Middlewich, Crewe, Macclesfield and Chester areas with Weaver Vale already operating in many of these communities.

The properties are energy efficient and have been built to a high standard by housebuilders that the Trust has existing relationships with.

The homes are between three and five years old with 41 affordable rent and 14 shared ownership.

The properties complement Weaver Vale’s wider plans for strategic growth, which will see the landlord build or acquire more than 800 homes across Cheshire and Warrington by 2025/26.

Jo Fallon, assistant director of development at Weaver Vale, said: “This was an exciting opportunity for Weaver Vale, to support our growth plans in communities we already know and operate in, so it made perfect sense to work with Livv Housing Group on the transfer of these properties.

“We have fully engaged with customers to ensure they have all the information they need, and we’re committed to ensuring that they receive the best possible service and have access to any additional support the Trust offers.”

The Trust is also creating seven new apprenticeships as part of a new framework to provide employment opportunities for local people.

The programme is launching with the creation of a role in the people team and is then being followed by number of trade apprenticeships, plus other roles in the income and tenancy teams.

Wayne Gales, chief executive of WVHT, said: “Having access to opportunities for employment and education is so important for people to be able to begin or further their career and improve their prospects for a financially secure future.

“They’re ideal for learners who enjoy experiential learning, combining theory with hands-on experience, and are an exciting way for someone to develop their career.”
