Cheshire’s RSK Group has completed its 28th acquisition of the current financial year.

The Helsby-based environmental, engineering and technical services business has bought Scottish renewable energy solutions specialist Absolute Solar and Wind, for an undisclosed sum.

Absolute is a provider of renewable energy design, installation and maintenance services for commercial and industrial renewable energy projects, primarily in the solar sector.

The company was founded in 2007 and is based in Loch Lomond, but serves clients throughout the UK.

It works with customers such as Scottish Water, Exeter City Council, Edinburgh Airport, UK Research and Innovation and local authorities, providing a range of solar, wind and low carbon heating services in conjunction with its supply chain.

These include the design, supply, installation and maintenance of commercial photovoltaic solar panel systems, solar farms and wind turbines.

The business will join RSK’s agriculture, land and property management (ALPM) division under the direction of Ian Strudwick and will continue to be led by Absolute director, Tom Newall.

RSK chief executive and founder, Alan Ryder, said: “RSK continues to grow its presence in and commitment to the renewable energy sector. We are dedicated to increasing our service provision in this arena and to achieving carbon net zero.

“The sector offers a lot of opportunities for us to help our clients in their sustainability journeys and the acquisition of Absolute will open many doors for the group. With Absolute in the group, RSK will be able to take large scale solar projects from site finding and planning and consents all the way through to design, installation and maintenance, offering a turnkey service to our clients.”

He added: “It truly is a huge step in our commitment to renewable energy that I am delighted to have achieved.”

Absolute director, Tom Newall, said: “Joining RSK will enable Absolute to take its growth in the renewable energy sector to the next stage. Becoming part of a bigger organisation will present many opportunities for the business and for our employees in terms of growth and development.”

RSK Group now includes more than 130 companies within its portfolio.
