Preferred developer announced for 165-home Lancashire scheme

Whalley Old Road scheme

Vistry Partnerships has been named as preferred developer for a housing scheme in North Blackburn that will deliver 165 homes.

The appointment followed a competitive bid process by Blackburn with Darwen Council and local agent Lea Hough.

The council’s executive committee will meet on April 14, to consider the appointment and proposals in detail.

Situated on Whalley Old Road, the scheme comprises two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom homes of two-storeys and two-and-a-half storeys, including 132 to be sold under Vistry’s Bovis Homes brand, with 33 earmarked for shared ownership with a local registered provider.

The site will be the first development for Vistry Group’s Bovis Homes brand in Lancashire.

Vistry Partnerships has a regional office in Birchwood, Warrington, and its managing director for the North West, Ian Hilliker, said: “This prestigious site presents a fantastic opportunity for us and we are excited to have been identified as preferred bidder for what would be our first site in Blackburn and, indeed, Lancashire.

“Once complete, these homes will be a major boost to the region’s housing supply and the inclusion of shared ownership will help local people to get on the property ladder.”
