Historic Crewe hotel sold off £1.5m guide price

Royal Hotel

The Royal Hotel, close to Crewe railway station, has been sold by specialist hotel and leisure agents Graham + Sibbald.

The fee was undisclosed, but the 36-bed hotel, bar and function venue, had a guide price of £1.5m.

Set on Nantwich Road, the hotel occupies a three-storey end of terrace Victorian property. It is classed as locally listed and a heritage asset for the town.

The sale was carried out on behalf of a private pension fund to Crewe Hotels, part of Brilliant Hotels, following a full open marketing campaign.

Martin Davis, director, hotel and leisure at Graham + Sibbald’s Manchester office, said: “We are pleased to have facilitated the sale of the Royal Hotel. This strategic acquisition for the buyers is an excellent opportunity for them to develop the business given the importance of Crewe as a developing hub location including the proposed town centre regeneration and massive investment into the area.

“We are very confident that under the stewardship of Brilliant Hotels, the Royal Hotel will prosper and go from strength to strength.”

The hotel boasts a completely refurbished function room with its own dedicated bar. The Corner Bar, which was also recently refurbished, provides what has historically been a popular locals bar.

Anoob Saban, managing director of Brilliant Hotels and director of Crewe Hotels, said: “It’s a fantastic historic hotel in an amazing location for visitors and businesses alike. We are excited to expand our work in the town and continue to play a crucial role in the development of this hotel.

“The Royal Hotel will be an excellent addition to our current portfolio. Brilliant Hotels also own and operate hotels in Manchester, Cheltenham, Sheffield and Rochdale with two more hotels set to open in Stoke on Trent in June 2022.”

Having been launched with just one team member on March 1, 2019, the Graham + Sibbald Manchester office was the second of the company’s offices in England, after London and before the opening of a Birmingham office. The Manchester team has grown to 12-strong.

Graham + Sibbald has more than 220 staff members and 23 partners working across its 18 offices in England and Scotland.
