Kier Property eyeing September start on its first Manchester Trade City scheme

Kier Property's Manchester site

Planning approval has been granted for a first Trade City scheme in Manchester by Kier Property.

Totalling 93,000 sq ft and comprising nine units ranging from 3,800 sq ft to 23,600 sq ft, the 4.8-acre site sits just one mile north of Manchester city centre and forms part of the established Cheetham Hill Industrial area, close to the Cheetham Retail Park and Manchester Fort Shopping Park.

This off-market site was purchased by Kier Property in partnership with Investec in February 2022, and will start on site in September 2022.

As well as delivering high specification, flexible and energy-efficient units, Kier Property has also designed the development to achieve BREEAM excellent and Energy Performance Certificate – A.

Kier Property’s managing director, Leigh Thomas, said: “Securing planning for our first Trade City development in Manchester is fantastic news.

“Our scheme will offer local businesses the opportunity to grow and expand, creating new job opportunities in the area and deliver an important step forward from an environmental sustainability perspective.”

The site has direct access to the city centre via the A665 Cheetham Hill Road. It also provides access to the Manchester and Salford Inner Ring Road and the national motorway networks, being close to junction three of the M602 and junction 17 of the M60.

In addition, it is also 10 miles north of Manchester Airport.

Savills acted as Kier Property’s planning consultant and Colliers and CBRE are joint letting agents on the scheme.

This is Kier Property’s 55th industrial scheme in the UK and builds on its most recent acquisitions in Bognor Regis, Knowsley, Milton Keynes, St Albans and Bracknell.
