MBO at environment consultancy
A mechanical and electrical consultancy working in the built environment has undergone a management buy-out.
Founded 26 years ago by Phil Davies, who is set to retire, Davies Partnership will now move forward with a new management team led by managing director Tony McDonnell.
The Chester-headquartered business was founded by chairman Phil Davies in a single room of a barn conversion in Farndon, Cheshire, in 1996 and was quickly joined by Mike Flanagan and daughter Gemma Davies to make up the original Davies Partnership team.
Following 20 years of significant growth, Phil handed over the reins to Tony McDonnell as managing director in 2016.
Davies Partnership then launched its North Wales office in 2017 and its Liverpool office in 2019, with a Manchester office having opened this year.
The business also underwent a rebrand in 2021.
Tony McDonnell said: “Phil Davies has long been known as the absolute gentlemen of our industry, he’s a man who has dedicated 55 years of his life to his profession and his craft.
“Phil’s been a great mentor and is also a true friend, it’s been an absolute pleasure to firstly work for him and latterly alongside him for the past 20 years. We all wish Phil a long, healthy and happy retirement with Jen and the family.
“As we move forward to begin the next phase of our growth, we will continue to make new hires and launch new products and services to meet future demand.
“We have also set our own Net Zero Carbon target for 2035 and want to help our clients also minimise their impact on the environment too through the advice of our skilled team.”
Davies Partnership’s new ownership structure includes Tony McDonnell, Gemma Davies, Richard Lewis and Peter Lyke who have all been with the business for some time.
