A Salford furniture business, that was recently acquired, is part of a new entity involving four different organisations.

First Install was bought out by Ipswich-based Apex Joinery in June this year, for an undisclosed sum.

It is now part of First Interior’s Group, based in Salford, following First Install’s acquisition of Leighton Buzzard-based MBS Workplace Environments, for an undisclosed sum.

First Interior’s Group comprises First Install, its sister company Specialist Interiors Division, Apex Joinery, and MBS Workplace Environments.

The new entity currently employs 58 staff, with a view to recruit 20 more in the coming year.

Total turnover is forecast to reach £7m.

A family business with more than 20 years’ industry experience, MBS Workplace Environments supplies furniture to all sectors, including retail, hospitality, offices and schools, as well as furniture installation and interior fit out.

With excellent relationships with some of Europe’s leading furniture manufacturers and working with partners who are at the forefront of current interior trends, MBS Workplace Environments has forged a reputation for delivering sophisticated and stylish solutions.

The combined service offering, experienced management team and industry expertise of the companies, places The First Interior’s Group in a leading market position, it says, providing a totally national and competitive operation.

Mike McVey, head of group sales and operations, said: “The creation of The First Interior’s Group is great news for the four businesses involved. Each individual company brings a wealth of experience and knowledge as well as strong client base to the table, so by joining forces, we are forging a fantastic multimillion-pound nationwide operator.

“It is an exciting time to be involved in The First Interior’s Group with growth in terms of both people and revenue in the pipeline.

“As a new national operator providing a turnkey operation for design, manufacturing, installation and interior fit-out, covering all sectors, and with an impressive client portfolio, we are in a strong position to disrupt the industry and accelerate the group’s future expansion plans.”
