Charity acquires secure residential facility

Property consultant Legat Owen has acquired a residential treatment facility on the Wirral on behalf of the Kaleidoscope Project charity for the treatment of drug and alcohol misuse.

The charity has acquired Dee House, Broad Lane in Heswall, a former purpose built secure residential facility from Mental Health Care Heswall.

Kaleidoscope already operates a treatment facility in Birkenhead, but was looking to move to a new, larger, purpose-built facility which enabled a wider range of service delivery options.

James Wallace, Head of Residential Development at Kaleidoscope said: “We initially instructed Legat Owen to search for a development site or existing care home for conversion.

“The selection of this existing residential facility resulted from their extensive search of the market. This new location meets all of our requirements and we are confident it will help further support the most vulnerable in our society to make real sustained successes in their treatment journeys.”

Will Rees, director at Legat Owen, added: “We’re really pleased to have secured this hard-to-find requirement in the current crowded care home market and support the life enhancing work that the charity does in a building that will provide great facilities and private and safe surroundings.

“Dee House has lain vacant for a number of years but the basic fit out as a residential facility coupled with the location was greatly appealing to the charity.”

Kaleidoscope provides life-enhancing support for people with drug, alcohol and mental health issues.

Headquartered in Cardiff, the company already operates one treatment centre in the region and employs over 240 people across Wales and England.
