Land acquisition signals start for developer to provide 265 new homes

Plans for Shirebrook

Plans for 265 new homes at Shirebrook, in Derbyshire, are set to proceed after mixed-tenure developer Countryside Partnerships completed the acquisition of land from Homes England.

The site, to be known as Pleasley View, will form the final phase of Homes England’s Brookvale development.

The scheme will provide 68 new homes for Sigma, a provider of private rented housing, while 51 affordable homes will be built for, and managed by, registered provider Platform.

The remaining 146 homes will be built for open market sale and sold via Linden Homes, part of Vistry Group.

From the outset, Brookvale has been designed to follow Building for a Healthy Life principles, delivering high quality new housing within in a landscape setting.

At Pleasley View, Countryside Partnerships’ landscaping proposals will ensure a minimum 20% biodiversity net gain is achieved, with a wide variety of landscape features and habitats proposed alongside the retention of mature trees.

Work is expected to begin early 2023, with the homes completed within four years.

Stephen Teagle, Countryside Partnerships chief executive, said: “Pleasley View builds on our established and successful relationship with Homes England in the North and we’re looking forward to delivering these new homes and creating a high quality new community to live in.

“The development is a good example of our mixed tenure approach – by working with quality partners like Sigma and Platform, we can offer a broad range of tenures giving more choice and the opportunity to either own or rent a quality new home in the local community.”

Jon Irvine, development director for the North at Homes England, said: “The completion of this deal with Countryside Partnerships is a significant milestone in the completion of our Brookvale development, continuing significant investment into the area.

“We’re delighted that the new homes at Pleasley View will be built to Building for a Healthy Life design principles and secure significant environmental benefits, ensuring quality and sustainable living for the new community.”
