Construction begins at 185-home site on former RAF airfield

Construction of 185 new-build homes, including 10% for affordable housing, has begun at a Bellway site in Deeside.
The Summers Bridge development, located off Welsh Road, is on the former RAF Sealand airfield.
There will be two show homes at Summers Bridge, both well under way and scheduled to open in the summer, plus one view home. First occupancy is also planned for summer.
The site, which is 11.89 hectares in size, will provide a selection of three-bedroom semi-detached homes as well as three- and four-bedroom detached houses.
The scheme is part of Bellway’s Artisan Collection.
Jenny Bell, sales director at Bellway, said: “Construction is going well and Summers Bridge is really starting to take shape.
“With a good range of three- and four-bedroom properties, it’s a great development for first time-buyers, families and those looking to downsize, plus its location close to Chester city centre is hugely appealing.”
Help to Buy Wales is available on select plots at Summers Bridge, currently only plot 45, but with the price cap increasing from £250,000 to £300,00 from April 1,2023, it will be available on other properties at the development.
