Fresh doubt cast on Nottingham student scheme

How the development would look

Further doubt has been cast over a major student scheme on one of the busiest routes in and out of Nottingham city centre.

Manchester-based Crosslane (Huntingdon Street Nottingham) Limited submitted preliminary proposals for a six storey, 210-bed student block at 5-17 Huntingdon Street back in October 2019.

The scheme looked to be in jeopardy earlier this year when the company posted a notice of intention to appoint administrators (NOI) – protecting itself from creditors for a period of ten days.

Now, almost exactly two months later, its parent, Crosslane Student Developments UK Limited, has posted its own NOI. Its accounts are also overdue according to Companies House.

As we went to press it was unclear what caused Crosslane to file the notice.

The company secured planning permission for its Nottingham site in October 2021 and had hoped to see the development occupied by the start of the 2023/24 academic year.

Plans designed by Day Architectural include a gym, private dining facilities, a cinema, games area, study space and a private courtyard, but it remains to be seen whether the development will come to fruition.

TheBusinessDesk.com has approached Crosslane for comment.
