Plans submitted for 170 new homes on brownfield site

Lancots Lane

A planning application has been submitted for 170 new homes on a brownfield site in St Helens.

Cheadle Hulme-based Stanley Land and Homes is behind the scheme for the one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom homes which will be developed on an 11-acre derelict brown field site off Lancots Lane, close to local transport links, amenities, and parks.

The proposed development addresses a need for more affordable housing in the area, which is currently transitioning from a post-industrial hub to a residential community.

The homes will be fully compliant with the new Building Regulations, ensuring they are well insulated and thermally efficient with low running costs.

Neil Hughes, director of Stanley Land and Homes, said: “We’re excited to submit plans for another high quality scheme in St Helens that addresses an identified affordable housing need and contributes to the regeneration of this part of the town.

“If approved, this will be another highly sustainable scheme that will provide residents with efficient and affordable housing. It’s situated in a location that is currently undergoing its own transformation, creating a new community and a great place for people to live.”

The project is being developed in partnership with Holmpatrick Group, Torus, and the professional team includes MPSL Planning and Design (architect), Alan Johnston Partnership (engineers) and Hive (planning consultants).

This is the second planned affordable housing development in the area for Stanley Land and Homes. The company recently announced proposals for 28 cottage style apartments on land off Baxters Lane.
